House S is a gorgeous contemporary home situated in Çubuklu Valley, a private residential development that can be found in a forested area in Beykoz, Istanbul, Turkey. This community is made up of a group of remarkable modern homes, designed by Emre Arolat Architects, an Istanbul-based practice. The modern architecture of the houses makes this suburban project look very different from the traditional house-and-garden suburban concept.
The interiors of these lovely homes were left like white canvases for their owners to paint on. Each home received a unique touch that reflected its owner’s personality and tastes. One of the most impressive interiors is that of House S, created by Tanju Özelgin, an Istanbul-based interior designer. It was completed in 2011 and it beautifully continues the concept of building-nature harmony as started by the architects.
A direct and simple approach to the available spaces (about 4,300 square feet) resulted in exquisite interiors that combine light toned spaces with natural elements and modern technologies. A strategy based on natural materials, such as wood and stone, was used to obtain a seamless connection between the indoor spaces and the lovely surroundings. See more in the photo gallery below.
