This South African home was redesigned by Nico van der Meulen Architects from Johannesburg. The owners desired an upgrade in the in their house’s level of modernism and requested the mix of concrete and steel the studio usually uses.

After removing the internal walls, a porte-cochere was added, as well as a lanai and an infinity pool. The huge rusted steel wall creates a private area around the pool. But this isn’t the only water element of the house. The guests are welcomed from the entrance by the sound of falling water created by a small waterfall, while the koi pond gives an overall impression of relaxation.

The interior design tones range from monochromatic colors for the furnishings to contrast colors, like green. The exterior sharp lines can also be found inside. The furniture elements are placed and picked so that they complete the structural concept of the house.

Architects gave the residence a new, fresh feel by adding light and view over the nature.
