Perched on a steep hill in in Sant Abbondio, Switzerland, this minimalist concrete house was designed by Wespi de Meuron Romeo Architetti. It is essentially one massive block with randomly positioned perforations for windows.
Its upper levels offer sweeping views over Lake Maggiore and the nearby mountains. The natural shade of the concrete helps the building integrate into the landscape, while the extensive use of wood warms up the interiors. Natural light floods the rooms and creates a very welcoming and cozy ambiance.
