This striking building façade was created by Squire and Partners for a private home in Mayfair, London. It is a modern interpretation of a Virginia Creeper-covered house, one that took three years to develop, test and finally complete.
The folded leaves were made of metallic shingle and then coated with PPC. Several shades of bronze were used to obtain a more natural looking effect, and a total of 4,080 aluminum leaves were used for the entire project. After close collaboration with Swiss manufacturer Tuchschmid, Squire and Partners managed to successfully cover a three-story building and rooftop pavilion, thus ‘raising the bar for design within the borough’.
