The Zen Barn is a linear building located in Ottawa, Canada, which was designed by Christopher Simmonds. Its linear structure is not continuous due to the disruptions caused by the volumes of lightwells, stars and courtyard.
The indoor outdoor connection is strong one due to the interpenetration of views, light and space throughout the south side of the house.
Because the glazed areas are pretty large, it was necessary to be installed heated concrete floors in order to ensure the necessary comfort.
