The Cosgriff House located in Sidney, Australia was designed by the architect Christopher Polly who solved the first issue of the building, concerning the insertion of the lower ground living volume beneath the original fabric in order to harness the fall of the field towards the rear.

The house is perfectly illuminated during the day because of the sun which penetrates through the huge windows, and during the night because of the lighting fixtures strategically placed.

The roof has a very eccentric form and extrapolates the initial southern roof plane to reduce adjacent impacts.

The retained masonry and hipped roof envelope contribute to the whole picture of a carefully crafted project.

The semi-subterranean lower ground accommodates the utilities that establish direct connection of the living space to the beautiful garden and jacaranda tree.
