Neumann Mendro Andrulaitis completed this superb contemporary residence in 2010. It is located on a ridge in Carpinteria, an ocean side city in California, and it offers breathtaking views of the surroundings through its large windows and glazed walls. The project’s name is Carpinteria Foothills Residence, and it offers 6,655 square feet of tastefully decorated spaces.

The clients wanted a tranquil residence that would make an excellent retreat away from the busy life of the cities. The site has an irresistible natural beauty, with oak trees and stunning views over the ocean. The architects divided the program into three separate buildings – the main house, the pool cabana and the guest house – that were carefully set in places that would not affect the trees’ root system too much. Each building has its own orientation to ensure privacy and to offer the best possible views.

The owners of the house have a taste for modern furniture and art, and the interiors show this in a very alluring way. They actually played an important role in the design team, and the final result is a limited palette of forms and materials, and an extensive use of glass that allows a permanent communication between the indoor and outdoor spaces. We love everything about this luxe residence.
