This 5,300 square foot residence called The Cresta is an awesome project by Jonathan Segal FAIA. Situated in La Jolla, San Diego, it was built “entirely out of cast in place concrete”. It features two levels above ground and one beneath, and its main characteristicsare its openness and extensive use of glass.
The roof is covered with photovoltaic panels that provide almost 100% of all the necessary power for the entire house. Intelligent sun shading, strategically placed operable glass and a reflecting and swimming pool with insulating and cooling effect also help contribute to the house’s eco character.
