Parasite architecture has been the talk of the town for quite some time now. Landabura Borda House stands on the philosophy of parasitic design where modern meets vintage. It indulges in embracing the best of both worlds; old and new. A few kilometres away from Bera, this unique house sits on the foot of Navarre mountains.Â

The exceptional location set an inspiration to design this mystical house. The team of Jordi Hidalgo Tané Arquitectura convinced us to believe that it is possible to revive the old structures harmoniously. The old part of the project is a typical Spanish townhouse with stoned walls. While the new structure is bang opposite and uses contemporary materials like concrete.Â

The lush mountains encompass this annex beautifully. It gives a cave-like feeling but with much more spaciousness. Pure glass conjugates this lobby-like area forming a connection between the two timelines. The transparency offered by glass gives an illusion of walking in nature itself. This glass corridor ascends to the living area.
The only three materials used in this project are concrete, glass, and wood which are mundane but used in the most unconventional ways! No symmetry defines the form of the rooms, in fact, it is hard to find any resemblance in the space. The ceilings have mysterious designs made with concrete. Pinewood floor makes peace with the entire house and adds a rustic look. Juxtaposing these pattern-less elements is the glass windows that offer a seductive view. While the whole house is devoid of prints, the outside greenery paints a beautiful picture through the windows running across.
Neutrals are prevalent everywhere with an accent of lush green from nature. Even with such fewer design components, the house looks phenomenal. The bizarre shapes of ceilings, doors, and windows make the structure even more eccentric. this quaint Spanish house offers perfect amity of timeless traditions and majestic modern!
