This contemporary two-story house was sketched out by Balance Associates and can be found on a picturesque site in Nahahum Canyon, Washington, USA. Since there are no neighboring houses, the abode is able to provide uninterrupted views of its surrounding environment while benefiting from plenty of natural light.
Once inside, the residents and their guests are greeted by a two-story living room that offers exceptional panoramas of the nearby canyon. The main floor houses a modern kitchen as well as a living space that faces east, while the hillside part of the residence is occupied by a powder room and a utility space. The living room boasts a fireplace, a dining table for six, large windows, an L-shaped sofa and sliding doors that lead outside to a concrete patio.
Upstairs, we find the master suite, the bathrooms and accommodations for the guests as well as a loft-style area that offers great relaxation opportunities.

From the Balance Associates:
This two story dwelling is set into the hillside with concrete retaining walls that guide the form of the cabin. Its east west longitudinal axis and generous overhangs are designed to take advantage of solar orientation while maintaining panoramic views. The main entry is a two story room with full height glazing on the north and south walls that frame the most dramatic down-canyon view. An eastern oriented living space and kitchen occupy most of the main floor along with a powder room and utility area located within the hillside portion of the home. The upper floor contains the master suite and guest bedroom/bathroom with a loft style flex space that opens up to the living room below.
