Countryhouse in Val Tidone is a really impressive project completed by Park Associati, a Milano-based architecture studio. Located in the foothills of Val Tidone, in the Piacentine countryside, Italy, the residence is inspired by the traditional barns of the area, but it has a clearly defined contemporary spirit, “free from nostalgic elements”, as the architects put it.

Sustainability played a key role in the construction of this beautiful residence, meaning that special attention was paid to the orientation of the house and the materials used for its construction. In terms of orientation, the country house ensures plenty of direct sunlight during the winter months, while also limiting sun and heat during the warmer seasons. For enhanced insulation, the architects chose only materials that would help reduce the need of energy-consuming appliances.

The project was developed around a central covered courtyard, giving very unique views to the bedrooms on the upper floor. The ground floor includes the public areas, like the kitchen/dining area, and the spacious living room. These spaces are seamlessly connected to the terrace and outdoor spaces by sliding glass doors and huge windows.
