SHH architects had to design a residence in Kensington, London, for a family with 6 children. The concept for this 12,000 sq ft house with 6 levels was summarized by the owners as “cream, off-white and funky”.

The designers chose white as a theme color for the interior design, using secondary funky colors and glam accessories to underline the main color of the house. They structured the house putting the social areas on the first three levels, the master bedroom on one entire floor and the bedrooms and bathrooms on 2 other floors.

The reception room, the living, and the family room have built-in white-painted wood cabinets, comfortable-looking and chic carpets, large sofas and lots of pillows. These rooms use different textures to give contour to the interior. The formal dining has a glass table and is colored in shades of creamy white and beige. The pendant lamps in the dining area give the room a certain level of preciousness, looking live large balls of light covered in diamonds.

The designers paid a lot of attention to details and accessories like the chandeliers, curtains, secondary colors for the children rooms, carpets and decorating elements. The entire house has the look of a hand-made bijoux and this aspect in particular made magazine editors praise this awarded concept for a contemporary house.
