The Hive House is a true depiction of intelligence, adaptability, and sustainability infused together in one space. The owner of the house, Kamalbhai Mistry, is the chief of a leading diamond cutting mill. Hence, the concept of the house comes from the core of diamond, carbon.
The Hive house, situated in Surat, India oozes perfection in every sense. Complex forms of metal with solar sensors contribute to the dramatic exterior. These metal elements draw inspiration from the hexagonal structural patterns derived from nature in honeycombs and carbon atoms. Moreover, every structural feature is well researched and based on the concepts of strength, transformability, and biomimicry. The metal honeycombs regulate the light exposure, thus, maintaining the thermal levels inside the home.

The interior of the house is particularly dominated by woodwork and traces every corner of the house. Devoid of walls and partitions, the design features the concept of ‘mono living’. Besides, every piece of the interior is tailor-made to blend with the concept and fitments are custom designed to translate the uniformity.
Organically shaped vestibules induce a sense of visual segregation in the interior spaces. The interiors transcend a muted colour palette and accented with deep orange to match the metal honeycombs of the façade.
Bespoke furniture pieces adorn the living room, thus, making it one of a kind. Eclectic light fixtures punctuate every room, which increases the curiosity. A sculptural staircase leads the way to the second floor which accommodates two bedrooms. Every bedroom has a small garden leading to the main landscape.
From naturally shaped vases to intricately designed bar stools, the concept of smart living leaves a trace everywhere. At night, one can see the highlighted metal features of the façade from afar. Randomised studded lights in the garden make it look peculiar and persuasive both at the same time. The Hive House is a paragon of smart living and modern construction.
